Scalise Supports House Passage of North Korean Sanctions

October 24, 2017
WASHINGTON, D.C.— HouseMajority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) released the following statement following the House's passage of additional sanctions on North Korea with theOtto Warmbier North Korean Nuclear Sanctions Act, named in honor of the American hostage who died earlier this year at the hands of the North Korean regime:

"North Korea’s development of nuclear weapons and ballistic missile capabilities is a direct threat to America and all of our allies. The Otto Warmbier North Korea Nuclear Sanctions Act will further cut off Kim Jong-Un’s ability to access additional financial resources, and will sanction anyone who is complicit in the regime’s provocative and destabilizing actions. This legislation also provides the additional economic and diplomatic tools and leverage to enforce existing sanctions to restrict the regime’s illicit activities. I urge the Senate to swiftly pass this important bill and send it to President Trump’s desk so we can continue working to combat this rogue regime."
