Scalise: Supreme Court’s Decision Is Against The Health And Wellbeing Of Women

METAIRIE, LA - Congressman Steve Scalise (R-La.) today released the following statement regarding the Supreme Court’s decision to block enforcement of a Louisiana law that would protect women's health and safety by ensuring that abortion clinics meet minimum standards:

“I am strongly disappointed that the Supreme Court of the United States did not affirm the common-sense ruling made by the Fifth Circuit,” Rep Scalise said. "It has long been the responsibility of states to regulate medical facilities, and those safety standards should not be jeopardized. This misguided decision undermines the health and wellbeing of women and their unborn babies. Let’s hope this is not an indicator of where the Court will go in their final Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt ruling. Today’s action shows us once again just how important the selection of our next Supreme Court justice will be for the pro-life movement.”
