Scalise to Tour New Slidell City Hall with Mayor Ben Morris

November 20, 2009

Washington, DC -- Congressman Steve Scalise will be touring the newly opened Slidell City Hall as well as other locations around Slidell that were affected by Hurricane Katrina on Monday, November 23, 2009. Scalise and Mayor Morris will also meet following the tour to discuss hurricane recovery and flood protection.

“It is important that we fight to get the flood protection projects that are critical for Slidell and all of St. Tammany Parish, and that we work to prevent storm surge from entering Lake Pontchartrain,” Scalise said. “We need to continue making reforms to correct the mistakes of the past, and expedite the recovery process for Katrina-related items, as well as developing stronger protection against future storms.”

Scalise has the opportunity to request flood protection projects for inclusion in the the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) in the upcoming weeks and wants to get input from Mayor Morris on Slidell’s priorities.
