Scalise Urges Supreme Court To Uphold Rule Of Law

January 19, 2016

METAIRIE, LA. - Congressman Steve Scalise (R-La.) today released the following statement in response to reports that the Supreme Court of the United States will hear a case on challenging President Obama’s executive actions on immigration.

“Today’s announcement by the Supreme Court is an encouraging step forward as the House works to roll back President Obama’s unlawful actions on immigration. President Obama’s attempts to write his own laws go against the basic principles of our great democracy, and we will fight his attempts with both legislative and court action. Earlier this year, the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals correctly ruled in favor of the American people and the rule of law, effectively blocking President Obama from granting executive amnesty to people here illegally. I urge the Supreme Court to uphold the 5th Circuit’s decision and strike down the President’s unlawful action.”
