Scalise, Vitter gather Corps, State and Parish officials to hash out I-12 at 1088 delays

May 15, 2009

Mandeville -- Congressman Steve Scalise and U.S. Senator David Vitter yesterday gathered the appropriate parties to work out the issues causing the delays to the permitting process for the Interstate I-12 interchange at Louisiana 1088 project.

“We wanted to get everyone together at the same table and on the same page to get this very important project back on track,” U.S. Rep. Steve Scalise said. “Yesterday’s meeting was very productive, and all parties involved know their roles and what they need to do to get the permit issued and finally start construction on the 1088 interchange at I-12.”

“I am pleased that the Corps agrees that the Highway 1088 interchange is a high priority, and now that DOTD clearly understands the information that is needed, I hope we will be able to begin construction before the end of this year,” said U.S. Sen. David Vitter.

Present at today’s meeting were representatives from the offices of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, St. Tammany Parish President Kevin Davis, Sen. Jack Donahue, St. Tammany Parish School District Superintendent Gayle Sloan, U.S. Sen. David Vitter and U.S. Rep. Steve Scalise.
