Scalise Website Wins Congressional Management Foundation’s Gold Mouse Award

April 22, 2010

Washington, DC -- Congressman Steve Scalise today announced that the Congressional Management Foundation (CMF) awarded his Congressional website, www.scalise.house.gov, the Gold Mouse Award.

“Keeping an open line of communication with my constituents is one of my top priorities in Congress,” Scalise said. “By visiting my website, constituents are able to directly interact with me, learn more about issues that are important to them, receive newsletter updates, and send me e-mails with their thoughts. All Members of Congress should recognize and harness the power of the Internet so we can promote a more open, transparent and accessible government.”

Corresponding with an A+ grade, the Gold Mouse Award is one of the top honors a Congressional website can receive. CMF noted that Scalise’s website was among the highest scoring sites for accessible and educational information on constituent services and casework, District and State information, and access to current House floor proceedings.

CMF analyzed 620 House, Senate and Committee websites and assigned letter grades to each. Only 42 websites earned a grade worthy of a Gold Mouse Award. To analyze the websites, CMF formed a non-partisan research team with the Harvard Kennedy School, Northeastern University, University of California – Riverside, and The Ohio State University.
