Scalise Welcomes Louisiana Students For Internships in His D.C. Offices
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Steve Scalise (R-La.) welcomed six Louisiana students, as well as one Virginia student, to his D.C. offices to begin internships for June 2015.
“It is an honor to have these seven students serve alongside Team Scalise in our nation’s capital this summer,” Rep. Scalise said. “Travis, Zach, Kathryn, Hannah, Alexandra, Kate and Jacques are important additions to my entire D.C. team, and play a key role in the day-to-day functions of the office on behalf of Louisiana’s First Congressional District and our nation.”
Travis Adolph ofNew Orleans will be attending John Cabot University in the Fall.
“My time here has given me profound political insight,” Adolph said. “I will truly value this experience throughout my future careers.”
Zach Barnett, a Covington native, is pursuing a degree in Political Communications at Louisiana State University (LSU).
“I am thrilled to work for Congressman Scalise because my hometown is in LA-01,” Barnett said. “I have already learned much about the legislative branch and cannot wait to see all the experiences this internship has to offer.”
Kathryn Bell of Vienna, VA attends Vanderbilt University. Kathryn is pursuing a dual degree in Communication Studies and Political Science.
“Interning for Congressman Scalise’s office is a privilege and opportunity,” Kathryn said. “I’m excited to supplement my Communications and Political Science courses with this experience, and I look forward to learning more throughout the course of my internship.”
Hannah Butler ofNew Orleans is a student at LSU and is majoring in Political Science.
“Working here is such an opportunity,” Butler said. “Team Scalise is motivated, organized, and passionate and I feel confident that the experiences I gain here will serve me for the rest of my life.”
Alexandra Dease, a native of Covington, is pursuing a dual major in Public Relations and Political Science at Pepperdine University.
“I am excited to be in Washington working with Team Scalise,” Dease said. “It is thrilling to see the legislative process in action!”
Kate Kelly of River Ridge is pursuing a Political Science degree at LSU.
“I have been so privileged to work with Congressman Scalise and his team,” said Kelly. “I have gained invaluable experience that will benefit me throughout my life.”
Jacques Petit is fromLuling. Double majoring in Political Communications and Economics, Petit attends LSU.
“This internship with Congressman Steve Scalise is truly a positive experience,” said Petit. “Every day, I get to witness first-hand how Congress works for the American people.”
