Scalise Announces 2025 Congressional Art Competition Winner
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.) announced Momin Mahmood, a sophomore at Destrehan High School in Destrehan, Louisiana, as the winner of the 2025 Congressional Art Competition for Louisiana’s First Congressional District. His artwork will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year alongside the work of other winning artists from across the country.
“Momin’s artwork beautifully expresses the pride our region has for our world-class culture and the joy we get from sharing it with the millions of visitors we host each year, especially for the Super Bowl! This piece highlights the jewel of the historic French Quarter, our iconic St. Louis Cathedral, with incredible detail and will showcase our state’s rich heritage for the many Capitol visitors from Louisiana and across the nation for the next year," said Leader Scalise.
