Scalise Celebrates House Passage of H.R. 5, the Parents Bill of Rights Act

March 24, 2023

WASHINGTON, D.C. — House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.) released the following statement on the passage of H.R. 5, the Parents Bill of Rights Act, in the House of Representatives.

“Over and over again, President Biden and Congressional Democrats have sided with union bosses over families. While school boards use taxpayer dollars to implement woke agendas in classrooms, President Biden’s Justice Department tries to silence parents who speak up and exercise their right to be involved in their child’s education. Some in the President's Justice Department even called parents domestic terrorists when they simply wanted to see their children’s school curriculums during the pandemic. Make no mistake: parents are under attack by this administration.

“House Republicans made a promise to voters that we would stick up for parents and their children. Every parent has a right to be involved in their child’s education. I want to applaud Congresswoman Julia Letlow for bringing forward H.R. 5, the
Parents Bill of Rights Act, so House Republicans can defend American families and follow through on our Commitment to America. With the Parents Bill of Rights Act, we’re giving President Biden another chance to make the right choice: union bosses or kids? House Republicans know who we stand with.”
