Washington, DC -- Congressman Steve Scalise issued the following statement today after House Democrats dropped their effort to extend the current moratorium on energy leasing on most of the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS).
Washington, DC -- Congressman Scalise today introduced H.R. 6945, the Restoring Essential Care for Our Veterans for Effective Recovery Act, or the RECOVER Act. This legislation will provide for key healthcare services that veterans are lacking access to because of the New Orleans VA hospital’s closure. Specifically, H.R. 6945 will do the following:
Washington, DC -- Congressman Steve Scalise today announced that St. Tammany Parish has been added to FEMA’s Hurricane Gustav Major Disaster declaration allowing them to receive additional public assistance. St. Tammany is now included in Categories A – G of the Major Disaster declaration. This also applies to all local governments and public institutions.

Washington, DC -- Congressman Steve Scalise today announced that Washington and Tangipahoa Parishes have been added to FEMA’s Major Disaster declaration to receive public assistance. A decision from FEMA on St. Tammany Parish is still pending.
St. Tammany, Tangipahoa and Washington Parishes are all eligible for Individual Assistance. Tangipahoa and Washington Parishes tonight were added to the Major Disaster declaration for Public Assistance including debris removal and the repair or replacement of disaster-damaged facilities.

The funds will be used to purchase equipment for a new Environmental Services facility to be opened on Club Delux Road in Hammond.
