Washington, DC -- Congressman Steve Scalise gathered the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), and local elected officials in his office this week to work on solving the problems that have been delaying Highway 3241 from I-12 to Bush. Scalise was able to get the Corps to agree to an 18 month timeline to complete the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).

“We began holding monthly office hours in Washington Parish a year ago, and I encourage residents to continue to come and meet with our staff,” Scalise said. “We encourage residents with any questions concerning federal programs or federal agencies to come to our satellite office in Washington Parish.”

Washington, DC -- Congressman Steve Scalise issued the following statement regarding President Obama’s budget proposal for fiscal year 2011.

“President Obama’s new budget adds $1.6 trillion to next year’s deficit and raises taxes by more than $2 trillion on small businesses and middle class families. This makes it clear that he was only paying lip service when he said his budget would focus on job creation and the deficit while presenting a budget that does the opposite.”

“We look forward to continuing the success we experienced last month as we kicked off satellite office hours in Slidell,” Scalise said. “I encourage St. Tammany residents to come meet with our staff during these satellite office hours in Slidell. My staff will be happy to help residents with any questions they may have concerning federal programs or federal agencies.”

Baltimore, MD -- Congressman Steve Scalise today attended a meeting with President Barack Obama and U.S. House Republicans. Scalise spoke with the President and presented him with summaries of two of his bills: the GAS Act, H.R. 1108, and the CAP the DEBT Act, H.R. 4262 (which has more than 80 co-sponsors). During the meeting, House Republicans brought up issues like job creation, health care, the growing federal deficit, and wasteful Washington spending.
