Washington, DC -- Congressman Steve Scalise today issued the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives voted to pass H.R. 1230, the Restarting American Offshore Leasing Now Act. The bill would expand American energy production and create jobs by requiring the Secretary of the Interior to conduct oil and natural gas lease sales that have been delayed by the Obama Administration.

Washington, DC -- Congressman Steve Scalise today issued the following statement after the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics released a comprehensive list of over-the-year change in unemployment rates for metropolitan areas across the country. The statistics compare March of 2010 with March of 2011 and highlight the impact of the offshore drilling moratorium on Louisiana’s economy and unemployment figures. Eight of the 11 areas with the largest increase in unemployment are Louisiana metropolitan areas.

Washington, DC -- An amendment spearheaded by Congressman Steve Scalise sacking four of President Obama’s most radical czars has been included in the Continuing Resolution for the remainder of FY 2011 which will be considered by the House and Senate by the end of the week before heading to the President to be signed into law. Scalise’s amendment originally passed on February 17, 2011 with strong bipartisan support.
