Washington, DC -- Congressman Steve Scalise today announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is awarding a $1 million grant to Jefferson Parish for Head Start projects.

Washington, DC -- Congressman Steve Scalise announced today that the U. S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is awarding $16,804,035 in grants to Louisiana for six Hurricane Katrina recovery projects.

“Our schools, hospitals, and parks are very important to maintaining a high quality of life in Southeast Louisiana,” Scalise said, “While we continue the rebuilding process we need to continue working together at the local, state and federal level for the hurricane recovery funding we still need.”

Washington, DC -- Kathline Malone, an artist from Metairie, was selected by Congressman Steve Scalise (R-Jefferson) to design an ornament for the White House Christmas Tree. Each year the First Lady selects a different theme for the Tree. This year, Laura Bush invited Members of Congress to choose an artist to design an ornament that represents their district.

Washington, DC -- Congressman Steve Scalise today announced that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will increase the Federal share for Public Assistance to 90 percent for Hurricane Gustav recovery. The original authorization for Federal funding was 75 percent.
