Washington, DC -- Congressman Steve Scalise has co-sponsored legislation that gives the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs full responsibility for financing healthcare for soldiers with service-connected disabilities.

“It is our sacred responsibility as Americans to take care of our military veterans who were wounded on duty while defending the freedom we all enjoy,” Scalise said. “We must fulfill that commitment to provide health care benefits for our wounded warriors, and our bill helped force the administration to reverse this misguided policy.”

Washington, DC -- Congressman Steve Scalise today said that the U.S. Department of the Interior’s Minerals and Management Service federal oil and gas lease sale will provide critical revenue to help restore Louisiana’s coast. Congressman Scalise has introduced legislation that would provide 50 percent of immediate federal revenue sharing for Louisiana and other states who participate in offshore oil and gas activity.

Washington, DC -- Congressman Steve Scalise today participated in a secure energy briefing with the United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. Members of the Energy and Environment Subcommittee of the Energy and Commerce Committee were invited to the closed briefing.

Secretary General Ban Ki-moon discussed global climate change and the international negotiations leading up to the U.N. climate change conference in Copenhagen, Denmark, in December 2009. They also discussed energy policy and the development of renewable energy.

Washington, DC -- Congressman Steve Scalise recently sent a letter to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki asking for answers about the Washington Parish Veterans Clinic.

“I am concerned the clinic may not open in a timely manner,” Scalise said. “Our military veterans have served our country with honor and it’s very important that they have access to quality care. I want to hear from the VA on the status of this project and make sure the clinic opening stays on schedule.”

“I want to help our kids get a healthy start in life and protect them from internet predators and other dangers,” Scalise said. “The Kids Expo will give families a fun opportunity to learn more about health, education, and safety issues for children.”
