Washington, DC -- Congressman Steve Scalise today announced that St. Tammany Parish has been added to FEMA’s Hurricane Gustav Major Disaster declaration allowing them to receive additional public assistance. St. Tammany is now included in Categories A – G of the Major Disaster declaration. This also applies to all local governments and public institutions.
Washington, DC -- Congressman Steve Scalise today announced that during his Academy Day on Saturday, he will also be presenting Peter Gomez, a resident of Slidell and Army Veteran, with some medals that he lost in Hurricane Betsy. Scalise’s office helped obtain the replacement medals that were lost in the storm.

Metairie -- Congressman Steve Scalise today announced that the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is giving tax relief to taxpayers who reside or have a business in the areas impacted by Hurricane Gustav. The IRS is extending the deadline to file most tax returns and to make tax payments to January 5, 2009.
