Washington, DC -- Congressman Steve Scalise played in the 2009 Longest Yard Football Classic to raise money for the Capitol Police Memorial Fund and the Washington Literacy Council. The game raised almost $60,000 this year.
The “Mean Machine” team, comprised of a bi-partisan group of Members of Congress and former NFL players, beat the Capitol Police “Guards” team 32-26 in overtime last night at the Army National Guard Armory in Washington, D.C. This was the first victory for the “Mean Machine” since the game was founded in 2005.
