Instead, they will commission a study on ways to make harvesting oysters safer, technologies that may have not been considered yet, and other options.

Washington, DC -- Congressman Steve Scalise recently sent a letter to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development urging their swift approval of the Louisiana Recovery Authority’s (LRA) request for $5 million in Community Development Block Grants for Road Home applicants who have been adversely affected by toxic Chinese drywall. This program was approved by the LRA Board of Directors today.

Washington, DC -- Congressman Steve Scalise has introduced an amendment to the Health Care Bill, H.R. 3962 in the Rules Committee today that requires the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to submit a report to Congress highlighting the economic impacts of the newly proposed Oyster regulations.

Washington, DC -- Congressman Steve Scalise today announced that several provisions from his Disaster Recovery Improvement Act (DRIA), H.R. 3453, were amended into the Disaster Response, Recovery and Mitigation Enhancement Act, H.R. 3377, which passed out of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee today.

Washington, DC -- Congressman Steve Scalise praised the New Orleans Saints’ excellence on and off the field at a House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee Hearing this week with National Football League (NFL) Commissioner Roger Goodell. Although the hearing was called to discuss drug testing programs in the NFL, Scalise used the opportunity to commend Commissioner Goodell and the Saints organization for the contributions they have made and the role they continue to play in Southeast Louisiana’s recovery from Hurricane Katrina.

Washington, DC -- Congressman Steve Scalise today joined several of his colleagues in announcing an amendment to Speaker Pelosi’s health care bill that would force all Members of Congress and all Senators to enroll in the government plan if it passes. Speaker Pelosi introduced her latest version of a government takeover of health care last week, and she plans to bring it up for a vote as early as Friday.
