Washington, DC -- Congressman Steve Scalise today announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has declared St. Tammany Parish and Tangipahoa Parishes eligible for Individual Assistance for Hurricane Ike related damage. St. Tammany was also included in FEMA’s amended Public Assistance declaration.

Peter Gomez was a mere 20 years old when he was wounded in France during World War II in 1944.

“I was carrying my lieutenant when a tank at point-blank rage fired on us,” he said.

Shrapnel from the blast ripped open Gomez’ shoulder.

Washington, DC -- Congressman Steve Scalise today announced that St. Tammany Parish has been added to FEMA’s Hurricane Gustav Major Disaster declaration allowing them to receive additional public assistance. St. Tammany is now included in Categories A – G of the Major Disaster declaration. This also applies to all local governments and public institutions.
